First meeting of the Government with foreign investors: Agreed reforms that should increase the competitiveness of companies and Macedonia as a destination for new investments

On September 4, 2024, the first joint quarterly meeting of the Foreign Investors Council was held with the President of the Government and the economic team of the Government.

In the presence of representatives of about 40 companies with foreign capital operating in Macedonia and representatives of the Government's economic team, topics related to taxes and customs, infrastructure, education, and competitiveness were discussed, as well as the necessity of promoting the rule of law and legal certainty for business, in general.

In a constructive atmosphere and through a fruitful discussion, the demands and needs of the companies were presented, while the Government and the Council of Foreign Investors set joint tasks for reforms and potential legal changes that should take place in the next period.

In the coming period, working groups will be formed to work on concrete improvements that will mean an improvement of the business climate in the country and an increase in the competitiveness and successful work of existing investors, as well as attracting new foreign investments.

The next joint meeting is scheduled for the first half of December.
